Good Evening Pinewood Students and Families,

Our school’s Leadership Team had an opportunity to collaborate regarding our virtual bell schedule for this school year. We carefully considered student social emotional and academic needs, stakeholder input, and the impact of COVID-19 on our school community. As a result, our school hours will stay the same as our regular schedule, and the school hours will be from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.  Teachers will be on duty each week from Monday through Friday.  Wednesdays will be held as a day for targeted student intervention, asynchronous (anytime) instruction in the morning and teacher individual and collaborative planning, and professional learning in the afternoon.  Therefore, all students will be engaged in synchronous and asynchronous instruction throughout the day from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  On Wednesday mornings from approximately 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM, identified students will receive support and intervention in an individualized and/or small group model.  In order to maximize instructional time during virtual instruction, any calendar week with fewer than five (5) school days will follow the schedule for instruction as outlined on a typical Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.  More specific, grade level student schedules will be available next week and sent to you on, or before, August 21st.  You will receive these schedules through School Messenger.

Teachers will take student attendance daily and will adhere to traditional grading and reporting procedures as outlined in the BCPS Grading and Reporting Procedures Manual.
Our ultimate goal is to work together to support our students, families, and staff during these challenging times. Please continue to provide ongoing feedback to our teachers, school counselor, and school nurse, as well as Mrs. Davis and me, about your child’s experience and needs throughout the first semester.

For more information, please view the BCPS Reopening Plan.  A copy of the entire twenty-nine page BCPS Reopening Plan is posted on the front page of the BCPS website at www.bcps.org

We miss you, we care about you, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Take care and be well!
Sincerely,
Tricia Rueter
